A group of diverse artists came together today in Atlanta to play a benefit concert on what would have been rapper Tupac Shakur's 40th birthday. Shakur was 25 when he was killed in LasVegas in 1996.
"We're celebrating Tupac's birthday, which I thought was very nice," said Ayers, 70, in a telephone interview from his home in New York. "He [Tupac] sampled my music in the past, as many rappers and hip-hoppers have done."
So many talented souls have passed on. All we can do is Thank God for his Mercies.... Happy birthday Tupac.
